Nuclear Problems in the Rearview Mirror

By MATTHEW L. WALD

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission said this week that in hindsight, a problem at the Browns Ferry nuclear plant in Alabama last fall was quite serious. And its records indicate that there have been reports in recent days of engineers’ flubbing a basic calculation of reactor operation at two other plants.

The MP strongly believes that regulations need to be put on nuclear plants to keep the environment safe. One small mishap can put large amounts of nuclear wastes or pollution in the water and atmosphere. The problem at the Browns Ferry nuclear plant may not have been a safety hazard, but it does not mean that another plant couldn't cause nuclear pollution. The MP will work to get regulations passed that will keep our environment safe from nuclear wastes and pollution. Forget the rest, get with the best. We are the change!

Agreeing with the MP, the WOP believes in a pollutant free environment. If the nuclear waste enters the water or air, then the environment will not be as imagined. For this reason, the WOP created the Franklin Environmental Protection Agency. This sets regulations on the amount of harmful substances that are released in the air and it incorporates dumping waste into streams to prevent contamination. Our agency will do its best to promote and maintain the environment's condition.
