Catholic Professors Criticize Boehner in Letter
Published: May 11, 2011
House Speaker John A. Boehner, a Republican who grew up in a devout Roman Catholic family in Ohio, is scheduled to give the commencement address this Saturday at the Catholic University of America in Washington, a prestigious venue in church circles for its affiliation with the nation’s bishops.
But now Mr. Boehner is coming in for a dose of the same kind of harsh criticism previously leveled at some Democrats — including President Obama — who have been honored by Catholic universities: the accusation that his policies violate basic teachings of the Catholic church.
1 comment:
The WOP supports all religion. We do not, however, set a religion for any individual to follow. Boehner needs to do the same. Although he is from a Catholic family, he needs to realize that all voters are not the same. The WOP respects all religion, although not promoting any, we give each a chance to grow in their own ways. The budget that has been provided by the Republicans should not be incorporated because it will hurt a wide variety of people. for any individual to follow. Boehner, being raised by a Catholic family, should respect his own views and not argue against it.
