King Guy engaged in "holding action"

The Capital Courier -

Royal sources have confirmed that King Guy is engaging in what has been described as a "holding action" in terms of government policies. Sources within the Royal Palace explain that that King will not make any new policy decisions before the election. The King has expressed his reluctance to adopt new policies that would conflict with future policies of Franklin's first democratically elected government. This means that proposed reforms on education, the environment, and even on possible troop level increases will be left to the next government. Daniel Webber, a political scientist at Franklin National University, explained the ramifications of this decision, "This raises the stakes dramatically in the election. Now the winning party or coalition will have broad authority to set important and precedent setting policy decisions on a whole range of issues." He added, "Expect this decision to motivate the interest groups to step up their pressure on the political parties."

This statement already appears to be coming true. Yesterday, the Royal Veterans Association (RVA) launched an attack ad on the Liberal Rights Party, Liberal States Party, and the Manisrits Party. The ad criticizes the parties on their Iraq War stances. The ad ends with this critical line, "Can Franklin really trust political parties that would surrender the Middle East to fundamentalist Islam?" The ad is currently running in two states: Capital State and North Winsota.

The ad appears designed to decrease the growing support of these parties. A recent Wallup Poll revealed that there is strong support of these parties:

If the election were held today, which political party would you support?

LSP 24%, LRP 22%, MOR 5%, Manisrits 12%, Buckeye 4%, Free Conservatives 7%, CAT 4%, Unsure 22%

The EPC also confirmed that three parties (the Manisrits, the Free Conservatives, and MOR Party) have agreed to speak at their annual convention on April 3rd. All parties who submit a reservation and speech by April 2nd will also be permitted to speak.

The NEC announced that due to the recent Wallup Polling results the MOR Party has qualified to receive its reserved campaign funds.

The Free Conservatists thank the Royal Veterans Assosiation for their ad and in trying to make people realize the true purpose of being in Iraq and the Middle East. There are several things going on over there and we as a nation need to come together to put and end to it all. In order for this to happen however, troops need to be sent to fight in the war. War is the only option in this situation we are in and the Franklin States of America is a strong enough country to handle it. We appreciate the support of the RVA's and hope to gain much more support of the voters.

The Buckeye Party supports the troop surge in Iraq. Despite what many people think war does take time. It is not as simple as most things in todays life where you get instant results. We are not there for oil or other recources. We are there to liberate an entire nation. Unless we take action to to supress the insurgency the battle for the freedom of millions of Iraqis will take longer. However if we send more troops we are sending a message to the terrorists that we will not be intimidated and that we are determined to free the country.

The LSP believes that the RVA's statements are unjustified in their views. We do not believe in cutting and running from the Iraq War. We only believe in finding an end to the War that has gone on too long. We have lost too many troops to the War, and it needs to come to an end. The increased activity in the Middle East is worrisome, but our troops need to be our top priority. We will find an appropiate end to the War in Iraq, and we will not surrender to the fundamentalist Islamists.

The CAT party believes we should increase the amount of troops we have in Iraq. If we are going to help financially then we should help militarily because the terrorist will come after us if we are giving just our money so if we send more troops then they can fight for us. We don't believe the election should effect what we are doing in Iraq because we have to stay if we want to be save. We all want to live in a safe world and this is the only way to be safe. THe Cat party would like to thank the Royal source for bringing this very critical issue to the forefront. It is a major issue and we should never forget what happened on 9/11. It is why we are here today and we will not allow anybody the chance to hurt our country and our great citizens.

The Liberal Rights party agrees wiht the Liberal States Party in the point that we are not trying to pack-up and leave Iraq as fast as we can. We want to find a reasonable end to the war, though. The RVA is trying to pull voters towards the right just because the right side of the spectrum is where their views lie. Again, we encourage the voters to not believe the slander and libel by the RVA.
Now, the King is not going to create any new policies before the new elections, which will force the winning party, or parties of the election to create new policies for the new government. If our party becomes elected to government we will take on the many responsiblities we hold and we will create policies that are right for the newly formed country.

The CAT party also believes that the king should not just stop working on policies with the election coming up. He is their to work for his people and if he isn't working then what is the point. He could still be working with whoever he has now to come up with ideas to bring to the national assembly once it is elected. THe CAT party would also like to congradualate the MOR party on recieving their campaign funds.
