Gulf Tensions?

The Franklin Times -

Could tensions be growing in the Middle East? Over the weekend the U.N. Security Council voted unanimously to expand economic sanctions against Iran in response to its refusal to suspend uranium enrichment. This move came on the heals of Iran's seizure of British sailors late last week. F.S.A., which is not an official member of the U.N., but is represented by an U.N. envoy, supported the sanctions move. Andrew Tangrave, the King's representative at the U.N. stated, "It is clear that Iran needs to be held responsible for these aggressive actions. The King and Franklin stand behind the U.N. and our Western allies in this move." Many are worried that this move could increase tensions. Already gas prices in Franklin have hit a three year high in response to uncertainty in the region.

The Liberal Rughts Party believes that the UN sanctions against Iran is a good way to increase tensions in the war, and we don't want that. We are not saying however that Iran should be illegally enriching uranium. The uranium is one of the only reasons Franklin is in this war. What will Iran do with the uranium? They could make weapons of mass destruction and try to bomb the whole eastern hemisphere. Franklin, along with the UN need to find out what the enrichment is for, or this war could become nuclear.

The Manisrits understand that something needs to be done to settle Iran's aggressive ways, but we do no feel it should've been done like that. The citizens are paying high enough gas prices as is, they don't need to be punished for something Iran has done. The tensions were already at an all-time high, now they've risen even more. This could spell disaster, but if the Manisrits Party was in office, this behavior would be dealt with rationally, with negotiation, so as few people are effected as possible.

The Free Conservatist Party believes that this tension is not great, but it might be needed to completely end this war over in the Middle East. The U.N. sanctions on Iran are good because they are doing illegal activites and someone needs to stand up to them. The Security of the allies within the U.N. ensures that the Franklin States of America will be safe in making these decisions and will be protected. The gas prices are not a direct result from the war but they do play a factor in it. The major problem though is whether or not this war could turn nuclear.

The CAT party believes the sanctions are a great thing. With the sanctions now hopefully Iran will stop enriching uranium. Do you want to have to worry about being attacked with weapons of mass destruction? We do not believe the citizens of our country want to have to have that worry. We believe that we must have help from the European union and the Security council to stop Iran from enriching urnanium. We do believe we can solve this diplomatically but if things do not improve we must be ready to help fight Iran so we can protect our citizens.

To go along with Iran enriching uranium we believe that the oil prices might continue to rise but we need to not be so dependent on oil. Through ethanol we must find the alternatives for oil. We believe we must work with other countries in OPEC to get our oil not just from Iran.
