The Power of the Old?

The Capital Courier -

While the past government is not standing for reelection, it is clear that the government ministers are not going away. Prime Minister Brent Sexton, while offering a blistering attack on his critics, has announced his political organization is looking for a torchbearer.

Citing the great issues facing the nation, the Prime Minister stated, "It is important for our nation to continue on the road of security and economic prosperity. Therefore, it is essential for our nation to elect a government that will not tie the hands of business or our military commanders in Iraq. It is my intention to fully and actively support the party that best articulates these views."

The importance of the Free Conservative Party (which is disbanding as Sexton steps down after the April election) cannot be overstated. During the 2007 election, the FCP showed tremendous organizational talents and displayed an effective get-out-the-vote effort. Its and Prime Minister Sexton's popularity in the Western and Northern part of the country would be a great prize for any conservative party. "I would expect to see a rush by the conservative parties to woo the Prime Minister. His endorsement could be a trump card in this race," explained Allen Baldwin, Political Science Professor at Franklin National University. He added, "However, I don't expect the Prime Minister to rush to any sort of decision. He will wait to make an endorsement in an effort to make the maximum political impact."

Meanwhile, the political left is growing restless. After receiving more votes in the 2007 elections, but failing to control the government because of divisions between the leftist parties, the political left is anxious to win in 2008. Deputy Prime Minister and Liberal States Party Leader, Cameron McDaniel (who in past weeks has grown ever critical of the Prime Minister's policies) called for action from the new parties. McDaniel announced the formation of a new interest group, the National Progressive Union, dedicated to promoting and supporting left-of-center parties and candidates. "It is my hope that the NPU will bring an end to the current silence by the leftist parties. The workers of this nation deserve more than they are currently getting from the Sexton government," explained McDaniel. McDaniel went on to explain that unless a strong and effective voice emerged on the left, he would enter the race. This move would severely hurt any new leftist party as McDaniel would be able to capitalize on this NPU organization and combine the remaining elements of the Liberal States Party and the Liberal Rights Party, where he remains tremendously popular.

Our leader has obtained a major in political science but in the words of Abraham Lincoln, " I can not tell a lie." We know that Prime Minister Sexton could make us or break us but we will stick by our views. As we have stated before we will withdraw troops, but at the same time we understand we are making progress. Therefore, we will not withdraw ALL troops until we see sure signs of our country's safety and most importantly our troops'.

As far as the economy, we feel we must make taxes fair for all citizens of every class. Business really does not pose any threat to our economy from where we stand.

I know these views may seem opposite of what Prime Minister Sexton, as well as our citizens want to hear. but we will not and can not lie. We would rather have you elect us for being truthful rather than elect us and bacome unhappy.

I believe that some of out troops should stay in Iraq so that they will be able to train some of the Iraqis in combat so that they will be able to defend themselves but the rest of the troops should be brought home. Deputy Prime Minister Cameron McDaniel is right when it comes to the conservative party. We need to have a more stable environment when it comes to our government and we can do that by adding more liberals. The leftist parties need to speak out more for what they believe in instead of listening to what Prime Minister Brent Sexton says. With the new parties that are being created, there should be a better chance of having a stable environment.

On behalf of the Love and Freedom Party, and as leader, I would like to extend my deepest apologies to the citizens of the Franklin States of America about our faint appearence in the election campaign, and congratulate the FDRP party with their success so far in the race.
Do not worry, though. You will definently be hearing from the LFP more often, and the informational site will be updated soon with our foreign policies and affairs for all to see. So keep in touch with the members of LFP--Ms. Hannah L. Myers, Ms. Chantel Roberson, Ms. Karin Taylor, and Mr. Tyler Fields.

Prime Minister Sexton's flame of leadership burnt brightly this past year of him being in power. Sadly, he is stepping down and handing the torch on, metaphorically speaking. The efforts of the Free Conservative Party last year won them their positions and we would like to follow their footsteps.
The views of the Johnsonian Republic Party are not much different from that of P.M. Sexton and the Free Conservative Party, yet we aim to make a few adjustments to increase productivity in the business world and make ourselves know internationally as an economic powerhouse.
We also take the matter of the War on Terror very delicately. We follow the U.S. in saying that troops should be there, but further involvement might hinder future relations with Iraq after our troops are gone. Our biggest concerns are that of our own nation's safety.

The Literally Liberal Party (LLP) have a strong opinion on this topic. Clearly a party with strong leftist views has not emerged to challenge the conservative parties. The Literally Liberal Party believes in a steady withdrawal of troops over the time frame of 1 year. With this steady decrease, 50 troops should be left to tie up loose ends, and keep the Franklin States of America somewhat involved in foriegn affairs. Some more of our policies can be explained on our website, as well as in person. Please vote for (LLP)!

First I'd like to note that no one decided their views on the War until Prime Minister Sexton decided to endorse a party sharing his views...also, please check all your spelling and grammar...one more thing...1 year is an awfully short time to pull out all but 50 troops!
