Bad Economic Times Ahead?

The Telmer Telegraph -

Government economic figures, released today, show the continuation of a negative trend: an increase in the unemployment rate. Unemployment jumped to 7.1%, an increase of nearly two percentage points in two months.

The report cites the continued "outsourcing" of jobs in the manufacturing sector as the main cause. Capital State and Schenck were hit the hardest, each with an current unemployment rate at 10.7%.

A number of leaders from the organized labor movement have already called on National Assembly candidates to make their trade and economic views clear. "We want to know, do these parties stand with the worker or the wealthy?" commented Alistar Campell, leader of the United Workers Union. Campell continued, "Prime Minister Sexton and his conservative economic policies have utterly failed to solve a dangerous trend for our nation. It is time for the Franklin States to chose a leader committed to fight for the middle class."

We would ask parliament to allow a 20% increase in funding put forth to help unemployed workers to learn new trades. Thus leading them back into the work force where jobs are available. Unfortunately with our government's ever increasing debt we doubt parliament would be willing to do so. To counteract their plans to deny us money, we would simply refuse any plans placed by them about the economy until this issue is addressed. We would also ask for an increase in taxes upon the wealthy to try and level out the two incomes and economic status. For only with the support of all classes will this government be effective.

Prime Minister Sexton states that it is not his poicies that have failed the middle class, but the times. This country needs some extraordinary help to revive the economy and one year is simply not enough to fix the growing problem.

The Johnsonian Republic's stance on the economy is a conservative stance, yet, our goal is to make our economy as appealing as possible. We will lower the unemployment rate. How, you ask, will a conservative party be able to appeal to the working class as well as the upper class? We do not descriminate when it comes to bettering lives. No matter what walk of life you come from, whether it be lower, middle, or upper class, our goal is to provide a better economic standing for our citizens.

In the upcoming election the Iraq War is a major issue. The FMP proposes that only a 10% increase in funding is needed for the war in Iraq. We feel that the troops are needed in Iraq right now and the only way that they can stay is to increase the funding. However, once Iraq stabilizes then the troops should slowly withdraw until they are all home.
