EPC Convention

The Franklin Times -

In one of the most dramatic moments of the campaign thus far, representatives of four political parties delivered speeches to the delegates of the Environmental Protection Council. "I can honestly say that the executive council and myself were extremely impressed in the speeches," explain Eric Greene, EPC President.

The evening's speeches began with the CAT Party speech delivered by the CAT representative, Ms. Stephanie Isaacs. The CAT speech was "greener" than many had expected from this traditionally conservative party. The CAT plan combining government action with personal responsibility was well received. "The CAT Party clearly knows what they are talking about," stated Donald Hebrium, an EPC delegate. The second speech was delivered by Mr. Neal Banks of the Liberal Rights Party. The LRP speech praised the British approach to global warming solutions. The speech also outlined an environmental program entitled TREES that looks to preserve and protect the environment. Susan Raymond, delegate from Wayne, loved the speech, "Who knew a politician could actually deliver a speech with concrete ideas?"

The third speech was delivered on behalf of the Free Conservative Party. Fresh from his visit with the FCC President, the FCP Party Leader, Mr. Brent Sexton delivered a dazzling multi-media presentation that stressed a careful balance between business interests and environmental protection. Ian Ivanhoe, delegate from Huron, was impressed, "I thought it was the best of the night, because it showed an understanding of the hard choices our nation must make."

With three speeches down, many delegates were expecting another policy heavy speech, but what was to come brought the convention to life. In a tight and concrete speech, LSP spokesman, Mr. Marc Slone laid out not only a plan to save the environment but also a blistering critique of the conservative ideology. At one point, Mr. Slone claimed that the conservatives (the reference to the FCP plan, which had just been delivered, was clear) did not care about the environment or global warming.

When EPC President, Eric Greene, was asked about a rumored verbal altercation between Mr. Sexton and Mr. Slone after the LSP speech, Greene commented, "Words were exchanged, but that is democracy."

Despite the late hour dramatics it was clear from delegate interviews that all parties had presented themselves well. When asked about an EPC endorsement, Eric Greene was quoted as saying, "A quick straw poll of the delegation shows diverse support. It is important to remember our members are liberals and conservatives brought together in a common crusade to save our environment. Any formal endorsement is weeks away and will be driven by the actions of the parties during the rest of the campaign."

On behalf of the Buckeye party I apologize for taking longer than expected to present our speach. We just wanted to make sure that we were we prepared and could present the people of Franklin a clear way to solve our enviromental problem. We have a new approach to tackling the carbon buildup in our atmosphere. And we will solve other problems at the same time. We suggest using many substitute fuels. And we intend to lead by example. Our very own campaign headquarters has been remodeled to include solar panels, wind turbines, and other fuel sources. Also to replace oil and other fossil fuels we suggest moving to things like ethanol. We intend not only to use corn based ethanol but mainly sugar cane ethanol. We chose that because you get more energy output for what you put in than with corn ethanol. Also we support converting many businesses and houses to solar and wind power. One of the main reasons we support this is because it will help us come off of our dependance on foreign fuels. However businesses should not be made to immediately switch over. They should be given time and support. So we will take the first giant step forward in this process. We are offering 5 Billion dollars a year to help businesses transfer over to green power. But sont worry, no additional taxes will be imposed on anyone to raise this money. We hope many corperations and private unterest groups will follow in our lead. We will also preserve some of our forest lands for preservation. But will not stop businesses and private owners to continue to buy and cultivate land how they want as long as they meet pollution standards.

The LSP would like to apologize for any ill will created between our party and any other delegates of a conservative party, especially those of the FCP. We were not wishing to harm the reputation of any party, only to express our worries and concerns over our environment. The environment is a serious issue to us, and we do not take the issue lightly. It is only through deep consideration for the environment around us that we will be able to do anything to protect it. We only felt that the FCP had not properly addressed the issue, and we wanted to make it clear to our audience. We once again apologize for any rude remarks that may have been made by our party.

I would also like to say that we would like everyone to consider the option of moving to nuclear energy. It is much laster longing and efficiant. And once again it would seriously cut our dependancy on foreign fuels. The nuclear waste would be taken care of after it had been used. This is another way we will fuel our country to the top.

We would also like to add that we respect Mr.Sexton and the Free Conservative party and believe that we might be able to work efficiently and accomplish a lot if put in office together. We feel that the support of the Liberal States Party along with the support of the Free Conservatives may lead to a very strong coalition in the near future. Our nation will soon be safe.

As the Leader of the Free Conservative Party I personnally apologize for any thoughts or confussions made on my behalf. The Free Conervative Party and the Liberal States Party did not have a fiasco, we merely tried to solve a difference of opinion. The environment and the causes to harm it are important and crucial in the upcoming election and sometimes people can misinterpret the disposition of the speaker.

I do not wish to be in bad terms with any party and a coalition may have to be taken into effect, but the true issue is the people of the Franklin States of America and their considerations, or wants.

First, as a member of the LRP, I would like to congratulate each of the parties for doing a splendid job on their speeches. I thought every group did great. I do not know what happened with the Buckeye Party and their late presentation, but I am sure they had a good reason for the late speech. Also, I do not know what went on between Mr. Slone and Mr. Sexton. I believe that they were just discussing an issue. The LSP commented that they could "work efficiently and accomplish a lot if put in office" with the FCP. Personally, I do not believe that a government consisting of a liberal party and a conservative party would be able to function properly. I am not saying that it is impossible, but it is unlikely.
