The Gun Lobby?

The Nordonia News -

Today thousands of gun owners met at the Gun Gala, the largest gun show held in Franklin. The annual event represents not only a prime opportunity for gun buyers and sellers to do business, but also represents a political event. "As our nation moves into its democratic future, it is critically important that our government respect the rights of gun owners," explain Greg Godsen, President of the Franklin Rifle Association (FRA). Many political analysts agree that gun rights will not play a pivotal role in the 2007 election, but this interest group and its supporters could play crucial roles in key States. "This will force many political parties to develop a delicate balancing act," stated Kyle Smithson, a political analyst. Gun ownership is extremely high in the western States, while gun control remains a popular issue in urban areas of the East.

On behalf of the CAT Party, we believe that it should be possible for every eligible person to own a gun.
There should be few restrictions:
1. A criminal history.
2. Age requirement (18 years of age and older)
3. A history of mental illness.

The CAT party believes owning a gun is a persons right. However we do not believe people in big cities should own guns at all. We have to keep in mind the safety of everyone including our kids. The people in the rural areas we believe should be allowed to own a gun. We believe that they should just let their local police officers know they have one so they can keep track of them on record. We ask that if a gun would go missing you would notify your public officers automatically. IF a person who lives in an urban area wants to go hunting for a weekend their local officers will have guns that they can borrow but they have to fill out paperwork to get one.

The CAT party believes in the freedom of owning a gun but we also believe the safety of everyone is more important.

We of the Liberal Rights Party have given much thought on gun ownership. Although we believe the Constitution did not classify gun ownership as an individual right but rather for state militias, we will still allow for individual gun ownership. We do not see it as right to take away this right after it has been available to citizens for centuries. With gun ownership as a individual right, we will make sure there are restrictions on who can own a gun and what types of guns can be owned. We are also in opposition to concealed weapon permits because this will in turn increase crime. If you support the Liberal Rights Party, you will still be able to own weapons but will live in a safer society.

The Liberal Rights Party agrees that the gun owners do have the right to own thier own guns. The FRA however may need to make their laws on gun control fair to the entire country of Franklin. Criminals that have been in jail before should not be aloud to own a gun license. The Liberal Rights Party hopes that the gun show will be a big success for the FRA.

At the Gun Gala, MOR Party representatives had the opportunity to discuss our support for a citizen’s right to bear arms. Our 100 representatives attending the Gala spoke to nearly 500 gala attendees. Unfortunately, we were unable to speak with Greg Godsen, but the people we did speak to seemed to receive our view that gun control laws should be determined by the states, seeing as the East and South states do not agree on gun control.

To comment on the CAT party's response, it does not make sense. it contradicts itself. They say everyone should be able to own a gun, but then htey go on to say that people in big cities should not be able to own guns. People should not be punished because of where they live. I wasn't aware that living in a big city meant that your rights weren't as important as peole in other areas.
So we beleive that people should be able to own as many guns as they want. Each person will have to register that they have the gun and anyone under 17 that buys one will need parental consent. If you have commited a felony in the past you must present yourself before a review board to get permission to purchase and own a gun. Peaple should also be able to carry the guns around with them most anywhere. They will have to pass a shooting course before getting their permits though.

Owning a gun should be permitted under certain regulations:
1)Age of person-must be 18 or older and if under must have a parental consent
2)A criminal history of the person must be reviewed before and acceptions board and the person must be interviewed.
3)Person with a severe mental illness should not be allowed
4)All activist must pass a test with abiity to handle a gun
5)If a person wants to carry a firearm or weapon they must pass another test and be reviewed by a board. Also if asked by an officer he must show his weapon to prevent puplic harm.
6)Lastly each state has to choose to follow these laws, if guns are not permitted in that state then the person must follow their laws, and if they are they must meet the requirements.
