Easter Holiday Attack

The Franklin News -

As much of the nation enjoyed a peaceful Easter Holiday, residents of Franklin City woke to the news of attacks against two religious communities. In one attack, Franklin City police are investigating a fire bombing of the Beth Jacob Synagogue. The synagogue was a total loss but no injuries were reported. In another attack, reported hours later, two homes and a business owned and operated by Sunni Muslims were burned to the ground. Two children died in those attacks. The Royal Office has issued a statement of deep sympathy and is considering using the Royal Intelligence Office to assist in the investigations. Leaders of both the Franklin Jewish community and Franklin Islamic community issued a joint statement. "We ask for the full assistance of the central government in investigating and prosecuting these terrible crimes. These are not simple acts of arson and murder but we believe targeted hate crimes. We urge the future government, no matter who controls it, to pass and enforce tough hate crime laws." Such attacks are a rarity in Franklin's history. Attacks against minority groups, religious or ethnic, have been rare and almost non-existent in the modern era. Both the Jewish and Islamic communities have enjoyed long histories of peace and acceptance in urban areas where many have settled. The questions now are many: Who committed the attacks? What was the motivation? Will the attacks continue?

We would like to issue a statement to the Islamic and Jewish community as well. We are deeply sorry to be informed of these attacks. If there is any thing that our party could do to help rebuild and get families back on their feet let us know. We would also like to help in any way possible with the investigation. Let it be known that once in control of the government these attacks will not be tollerated and the consequents will be harsh. These hate crimes must never happen again and the LSP will do everything in its' power to see that justice is found.

The MOR party wishes to offer our condolences for the loss of the two children.

Our Party believes that if these were in fact hate crimes, the attackers hoped the incident would ignite harsh retribution within the country and divide communities. This is why the MOR would like to extend an official invitation to the other 6 parties to participate in an initiative to rebuild what was lost and bring the Muslim and Jewish communities together to promote unity, reversing the desired effects of the attackers.

Our party will donate $100,000 of our campaign funds for this initiative. We hope the other 6 parties accept our invitation to participate and match our contribution so that the potential members of our future government will have donated a total of $700,000.

We have sent this information to the Capital Courier as well as the Franklin Times, should these publications wish to comment on, criticize, or advance the initiative.

The MOR party hopes this effort to rebuild will unite people through a common purpose, which is perhaps the most tangible thing we can use against hate crimes and terrorism.

The National Election Commission in an emergency executive session has ruled that no party will be permitted to donate campaign funds to private charities. Allocating publicly provided funds in such a manner would set a dangerous precedent. Campaign dollars need to be spent on campaign related activities and all caution needs to be taken to maintain this principle. Donating monetary amounts to private organizations could easily turn into "buying" votes or bribing voters. The NEC commends the MOR Party for their gesture of good will but asks they consider legal avenues after the election.

The MOR Party appreciates the National Election Commission's involvement and will honor their ruling.

As we cannot contribute financially to this effort, we vow to establish and enforce legislation that will support investigations into these kinds of actions and hope to reverse the effects of these hate crimes through unity and strength of our people and government.

We again offer our sincere condolances to the families and individuals affected by these attacks.

The Free Conservatists Party is extremely shocked and saddened of this tragic news. We are willing to do all that is possible to help the families and we want to ensure the people that if we are elected to government, we will fight to put a stop to terrorism attacks and hate crimes. No person should have to endure such tragedy in their lives and our party will do our best to stop these massacres from occuring.

The CAT party would like to wish it's condolences to the family of the two children. We believe the Royal intelligence office should be used to assist in the investigation. We will not tolerate hate crimes. There is no need for them and they cannot be justified. We must keep everyone who lives in the Franklin States safe and we will work hard to continue our countries history of working well and getting along together. We will make sure there is no hate crimes by putting the people in jail who do them for at least 30 years.
