Should Presidential Power be Checked?

Since 9/11, the power of the executive has grown, which some say has come at the expense of the Constitution's founding principles of separation of powers and checks and balances. Is it time for Congress and the Courts to reassert their power? Here is one Senator's perspective:

Yes, Presidential power must be checked, but only certain powers such as the Senator suggests in regards to unwarranted wiretapping. As for other powers, such as expanding certain government policy areas, Presidential power should remain untouched.
